NAME=Browse sequence
Buttons in the Help window that allow users to move forward and backward through a series of topics in an order defined by the author.
NAME=Button
Buttons give you additional flexibility and options for providing navigation. Buttons can have different sizes, appearances, labels, and functions.
NAME=Conditional build tags
Tags you apply to topics and topic content to differentiate content for multiple versions.
NAME=Conditional text
Use conditional text to design and create multiple versions of your project from a single set of source files. After creating a conditional build tag, you can apply it to entire topics or specific areas within topics.
NAME=Embedded HTML
WinHelp 2000 allows you to create links to HTML topics and Internet/intranet pages embedded in your WinHelp system. When users click the hotspot link, WinHelp 2000 launches the selected HTML topic or Web page within the WinHelp window.
NAME=Glossary
An online glossary provides a list of terms and definitions related to the subject matter in your project. When users access your glossary, they click a term in the top pane and see a corresponding definition in the lower pane. You can also provide glossary definitions within each topic using glossary hotspots. (Available for WebHelp and HTML Help outputs.)
NAME=Hotspot
Hotspots (also called hyperlinks, links, or jumps) enable end users to navigate throughout the content of your Help system and find information.
NAME=Hotspot image
Any image that contains one or more "clickable" areas. When the cursor is over a hotspot area on an image, it turns to a hand indicating that when clicked some sort of action occurs
NAME=HTML topic
Certain outputs allow you to create links to HTML topics from your Help system. When users click the hotspot link, the selected HTML topic is displayed.
NAME=Image
Images play an important part in both printed documents and online Help systems û they can make the information easier to understand and more interesting to read. Images convey messages, clarify and explain concepts, and provide interest and aesthetic value.
NAME=Index
A method of online navigation similar to a printed book. From the Index pane in the Help window, users select keywords and subkeywords and an associated topic is displayed.
NAME=Internet access
Certain outputs allow you to create links to Internet/intranet pages embedded in your Help system. When users click the hotspot link, the selected Web page is displayed.
NAME=Java applet
A Java program that can be distributed as an attachment in a World Wide Web document and executed in a Java-enabled Web browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
NAME=Layout
Templates for different versions of your project. Typically, when you generate a different version of your project (such as an online tutorial), different settings are used for the output (such as the skin, navigation buttons, and conditional build expressions). You can save these settings in single source layouts and quickly generate (and publish) whenever needed.
NAME=Mid-topic ID
Uniquely identify a marked area inside a topic. Mid-topic IDs allow users to jump to different sections within the same WinHelp topic û like a bookmark or inter-topic jump. They're helpful to break up long topics, so users go right to the information they want.
NAME=Multimedia
Sound files and video clips that enable you to demonstrate tasks, promote features, or give instructions in your Help system. For example, you can add background sounds that play when topics open or insert links that play audio or video when clicked.
NAME=Non-scrolling region
Regions in WinHelp topics that stay stationary while the rest of the topic is scrolled.
NAME=Output
The end result (or file or group of files) that is created when you generate your project. These are the files you distribute to end users.
NAME=Popup topic
Topics that display in a small, temporary window that "pops up" on the screen. This popup window is a small, self-sizing window. While popup links are mainly used for popup topics, you can display any new or existing topic in your Help system using a popup link. Popups are often used to provide additional information without interfering with the continuity of the current screen of information.
NAME=Primary layout
The layout (output) that will be generated by default when the "Quick Generate" button on the toolbar is clicked.
NAME=Shortcut button
Shortcut buttons are actually images that appear as buttons and are commonly used to take users to an application, demonstration, or directions to complete a task. They can appear with or without hotspot text next to them. The size of the shortcut button depends upon the size of the image you select for the button face.

NAME=Skin
Skins allow you to customize your WebHelp output by changing colors, buttons, text, fonts, icons, and other attributes of the output.
NAME=Smart See Also button
The Smart See Also button is a WinHelp 2000 feature that provides access to related topics from your Help windowÆs button bar. The See Also button is "smart" because if a topic is part of one or more See Also keyword groups, clicking the button automatically displays the list of other topics associated with the See Also keyword group.
NAME=Table of contents
An online table of contents is a summary of your project with topics arranged by category. This grouping presents the "theme" about your project in an interesting, useful, and thoughtful way. It should provide users with all the information they need about what your system contains.
NAME=Topic
The basic unit of a Help system. They are the message û the information you want to communicate through your Help system. When users view your Help system, they get information (help) by finding and reading specific topics.
NAME=Watermark
Watermarks are images that appear in topic backgrounds in WinHelp 2000 projects. Watermarks appear behind text and other images in the non-scrolling or background regions of the window.
